German-born Ghanaian defender Frank Ronstadt has completed a deadline-day loan move to 3. Liga side Viktoria Köln from 2. Bundesliga outfit FC Kaiserslautern.
The 28-year-old full-back, who came through the youth ranks at Hamburger SV, has struggled for game time in Kaiserslautern colors this season. With the switch to Cologne, he now seeks regular minutes and a fresh opportunity to prove his quality.
Viktoria Köln confirmed the deal shortly after sealing the signing of Joel Agyekum, making Ronstadt their second capture on a frantic deadline day. The versatile defender, capable of operating across multiple positions but most comfortable on the wing, will spend the 2024/25 campaign at Sportpark Höhenberg.
Speaking after his unveiling, Ronstadt expressed delight at the move:
“I’m very happy and, above all, grateful to be here in Cologne from now on. I’ll give my all from the very first training session and show full commitment. I am convinced that I can help the team with my strengths and that we can achieve our goals for the season.”
Viktoria’s sporting director Stephan Küsters praised the deal:
“It was an extremely quick transfer, completed last night with the help of FCK at short notice. Franky is an experienced player we haven’t had in our ranks before, and he enriches us across the board.”
Although Ronstadt has represented Germany at U16, U17, and U19 levels, the Hamburg-born right-back remains eligible to play for Ghana at the senior international stage.

Ademola Lookman’s long-anticipated departure from Atalanta has taken another twist as Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahçe step forward with a lucrative four-year package for the Nigerian international.
For months, Lookman has been pushing for an exit from Bergamo, with tensions between him and former coach Gian Piero Gasperini fueling speculation of an early departure. Inter Milan were the first serious suitors, tabling a €45 million bid earlier in the summer. But Atalanta rejected the offer, even after Lookman publicly expressed his desire to move on.
As the European transfer window slammed shut on Monday, potential moves to top clubs like Arsenal, Tottenham, Atlético Madrid, and Bayern Munich collapsed, leaving the winger in limbo. Now, the focus has shifted away from the traditional top-five leagues.
Fenerbahçe have made their intentions clear. According to Turkish outlet Fanatik, the Yellow Canaries have tabled a staggering four-year deal worth €6 million per season—a 200% salary increase for the 26-year-old Super Eagle. While it remains unclear whether they will meet Atalanta’s €50 million valuation, their bold move could turn into one of the coups of the summer.
For Lookman, the decision is far from simple. While the financial upgrade is enticing, leaving the elite European stage for Turkey or Saudi Arabia might not align with his career ambitions. If he refuses, however, he could face another season in Bergamo, where his future appears uncertain.
The coming weeks will determine whether he chases the money in Istanbul or holds out for another shot in Europe’s top leagues.

Italian Serie C side Unione Sportiva Livorno have officially confirmed the signing of Ghanaian midfielder Moses Odjer. The 29-year-old arrives as a free agent after parting ways with Ascoli earlier this summer.
Odjer, once a standout for Ghana’s U20 national team, has penned a one-year contract that runs until 2026. The move reunites him with Italian football fans who have followed his steady career across the lower divisions.
In a statement, Livorno welcomed their new recruit:
“Moses Odjer is a new player for Unione Sportiva Livorno 1915! Born in 1996, he has made over 250 appearances in Serie B and Serie C with Catania, Salernitana, Palermo, and Foggia. Last season, he featured for Pianese before joining Ascoli. Welcome, Moses!”
Known for his combative style in midfield despite his smaller stature, Odjer brings vast experience to Livorno’s ranks. His addition is seen as a morale boost for the newly-promoted side as they prepare for a challenging Serie C campaign.
While he is yet to make his senior debut for the Black Stars, Odjer remains a respected figure in Ghanaian football, having represented the U20s earlier in his career.
