Emmanuel Twumasi Begins European Comeback with Move to Poland’s Piast Gliwice

Ghanaian defender Emmanuel Twumasi has taken the next step in his professional journey, signing a two-year deal with Polish Ekstraklasa side Piast Gliwice.

The 28-year-old joins the club as a free agent following his departure from Major League Soccer side FC Dallas, where he spent five consistent seasons. Twumasi, a product of the renowned Right to Dream Academy, also had stints with Austin Bold, Oklahoma City Energy, Michigan Bucks, and GPS Portland Phoenix during his time in the United States.

Renowned for his versatility, Twumasi has seamlessly operated both as a right-back and a winger, attributes that will be crucial as he embarks on this European chapter. His arrival at Piast Gliwice comes amid a major squad overhaul, with 12 players exiting and new manager Max Moelder looking to inject youth and energy into the team.

Moelder, the 40-year-old Swede formerly of Landskrona BoIS, took over from Aleksandar Vukovic and has already overseen the signings of Quentin Boisgard (France) and Adrian Dalmau (Spain). Twumasi becomes the third signing of the summer as Piast, who finished 10th last season, rebuild with ambition.

This move not only offers Twumasi the platform to shine in Europe’s top flight but also reignites hopes of a potential return to the Black Stars setup.

QPR Stun Rangers to Land Kwame Poku in Late Transfer Coup

QPR Stun Rangers to Land Kwame Poku in Late Transfer Coup

Queens Park Rangers have pulled off a major transfer upset by snatching Kwame Poku from under the noses of Rangers in a dramatic late twist.

The 23-year-old winger, who looked set to join the Scottish giants as his contract with Peterborough United approached its end, has instead opted to return to the Championship with QPR.

London-born Poku, who represents Ghana internationally, enjoyed a stellar 2024–25 season with Peterborough. Despite missing part of the campaign with a hamstring injury, he still racked up 12 goals and 11 assists in 31 games—cementing his reputation as one of League One’s most electrifying talents.

QPR swooped in with a late offer, agreeing to a compensation deal with Peterborough and convincing Poku to make the move to Loftus Road. With over 200 senior appearances and 73 goal contributions already under his belt, the former Colchester United man brings valuable experience and a creative spark to the side.

Poku’s arrival marks the first significant signing in what is expected to be a transformative summer for QPR, who are set to begin a new era under incoming head coach Julien Stéphan, formerly of Stade Rennais, following the departure of Marti Cifuentes.

This bold move not only signals QPR’s intent for the upcoming season but also deals a blow to Rangers, who had long been leading the race for the dynamic Ghanaian attacker.

Return of the Maestro? Barcelona Close In on Free Transfer for Thomas Partey

Veteran Ghanaian midfielder set for La Liga comeback as Barca accelerate talks

Barcelona are moving swiftly to secure the services of Ghana international Thomas Partey, with the midfielder reportedly on the verge of a sensational return to Spain.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, the Catalan giants have entered advanced negotiations with Partey’s representatives, aiming to sign the Arsenal star on a free transfer once his contract expires on June 30.

The 32-year-old, who previously starred for Atletico Madrid, is eager to return to La Liga and continue competing at the highest level. He turned down an extension at Arsenal in favour of reigniting his career in Spanish football.

Barça’s sporting director Deco is said to be a major admirer of Partey’s profile, valuing his blend of tactical discipline, physical strength, and big-match experience. With no transfer fee involved, the club views the deal as a low-risk, high-reward addition.

Having already secured goalkeeper Joan Garcia and closing in on Nico Williams and Roony Bardghji, Barcelona are now prioritising Partey’s arrival to bolster their midfield depth ahead of the new season.

Though other European clubs have shown interest, Barcelona’s project and Partey’s desire to return to familiar territory have made the Camp Nou outfit favourites to land him.

A formal offer is expected in the coming days, with an official unveiling potentially set before the start of pre-season.
