Ahead of West Ham United’s crucial FA Cup clash against Fulham tonight, manager Graham Potter has highlighted the creative talents of Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus. Norwich City head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup is optimistic that Forson Amankwah’s knee injury won’t be a long-term issue. The Ghanaian midfielder was substituted at halftime during Norwich’s FA Cup third-round defeat to Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion, with Kellen Fisher taking his place.
Amankwah, 20, sustained the injury following a challenge and was visibly in discomfort. Speaking after the match, Thorup shared his thoughts on the young midfielder’s condition, saying, “Forson had some contact to his knee, so hopefully, it’s not too serious. We’ll have to wait and see.”
This injury setback comes at a time when Amankwah has been in excellent form. Bayer Leverkusen’s manager, Xabi Alonso, has raised concerns over the uncertain return of Nigerian striker, Victor Boniface, after the forward suffered a thigh injury while on international duty with the Super Eagles. Initially expected to return in early January, Boniface’s rehabilitation is still a work in progress, leaving his availability for the upcoming clash against Mainz in doubt.
While Alonso hinted at the possibility of Boniface returning next week, he remained cautious, describing the situation as still uncertain. “Maybe next week, but only maybe. There’s still a question mark. He’s on a good path to feeling better, but after that, he’ll need training time,” Alonso shared, leaving fans and staff alike wondering when the Nigerian international will be fit enough to rejoin the squad.
