Joseph Paintsil has etched his name into Major League Soccer (MLS) history as part of the league’s most prolific attacking quartet. The Ghanaian winger, who joined LA Galaxy in February, formed an unstoppable alliance with Riqui Puig, Gabriel Pec, and Dejan Joveljic, guiding the team to an unforgettable championship season.
Dubbed the “Three Ps” — Pec, Puig, and Paintsil — along with Joveljic, the foursome combined for an unprecedented 124 goal contributions in the regular and post-season, breaking a 16-year record held by LA Galaxy legends Welton, Cobi Jones, Mauricio Cienfuegos, and Martin Machon, who amassed 122 contributions in 1998.
Paintsil was instrumental, tallying 14 goals and 11 assists to complement Puig and Pec’s 35 goal involvements each, and Joveljic’s 29. His efforts were crowned with glory in the MLS Cup final, where he scored the opener in a 2-1 victory over the New York Red Bulls, ending the Galaxy’s decade-long title drought.
“It feels incredible,” Paintsil said post-match. “Winning this after 10 years of waiting is just special. We’re not talking about the past anymore — we’re starting a new chapter.”
The 27-year-old’s move to MLS followed a successful stint with KRC Genk in Belgium, where he won the league title in 2018. His performances this season have cemented him as a fan favorite in LA, further brightening his legacy in both club and international football.
As the LA Galaxy adds another star to its badge, the team’s historic season will be remembered as a turning point, with Paintsil and his teammates leading the charge.

In a historic decision that bridges the past and future of football, FIFA has officially announced the hosts for the 2030 and 2034 men’s World Cups. The announcements, made during an Extraordinary Congress meeting with all 211 member nations participating virtually, reflect a balance between honoring tradition and embracing new horizons.
The 2030 World Cup will be jointly hosted by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco. However, in a nod to history, three centenary matches will be held in Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the inaugural tournament in 1930. This unique arrangement allows South America to pay homage to the competition’s roots while the majority of the tournament unfolds across Europe and Africa.
Meanwhile, the 2034 World Cup will break new ground in the Middle East, with Saudi Arabia set to host the prestigious tournament. This marks a continuation of FIFA’s efforts to expand the global reach of the sport, following Qatar’s hosting of the 2022 World Cup.
The decisions were made through acclamation voting, with representatives showing approval via applause during the virtual session. FIFA’s choices highlight its dual focus on celebrating football’s heritage while fostering its development in emerging markets.

MKM Stadium, Hull – Watford’s English-born Ghanaian winger, Kwadwo Baah, proved to be the game-changer as the Hornets salvaged a dramatic 1-1 draw against Hull City in a fiercely contested Championship clash on Tuesday.
Hull City seemed on course for their sixth victory over Watford when Chris Bedia broke the deadlock in the 82nd minute. Bedia latched onto Marvin Mehlem’s well-timed assist to fire a clinical finish into the net, capping off a period of dominance for the home side.
But Watford refused to bow out quietly. The introduction of Kwadwo Baah in the 61st minute injected much-needed energy into their attack. The 20-year-old winger’s direct play and creativity eventually paid dividends in the 88th minute. Baah delivered a perfectly weighted pass to Rocco Vata, who slammed the ball home from close range, sending the traveling fans into raptures.

Prampram, Ghana – With just a day to go until the WAFU Zone B U-17 Girls Cup kicks off, Black Maidens head coach Joe Nana Adarkwa has expressed unwavering confidence in his team’s ability to excel in the tournament. The Ghanaian U-17 girls’ side will face Benin in their opening match on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
After nearly two months of rigorous preparation in Bibiani and Prampram, the Black Maidens are poised to put on a stellar performance. Reflecting on their preparations, Coach Adarkwa shared, “We have been in camp for about six weeks now, and so far, everything has gone well. We are ready for the tournament.”
Despite facing relatively unfamiliar opponents, the coach is confident in his team’s adaptability. “As of now, we don’t know much about our opponents. But as the competition progresses, we will assess and adjust. The technical team has worked hard, and we are prepared to take all points in every match,” he said.
Addressing the unique challenge of hosting, Coach Adarkwa acknowledged the pressure but remained optimistic. “Being the host nation comes with expectations. People want us to win, and that’s natural. But the focus is on my girls being ready to play, and they are.”
