Ghanaian swimmer Harry Stacey has openly expressed his disappointment following his performance at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has reiterated its support for the Black Princesses as they gear up for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo and Deputy General Secretary Alex Sakyi Asante visited the team’s camp in Cape Coast to convey the backing of both the GFA and the government.
“We are here to affirm that we are fully behind you,” Addo told the team. “With the dedication you’ve shown, we believe you’ll make Ghana proud on the global stage.”
He emphasized the GFA’s commitment to providing the necessary resources for a successful campaign, assuring the team of a smooth preparation process.
The delegation, which included other GFA officials and committee members, was warmly received by head coach Yussif Basigi, who expressed his gratitude for the support.
The Black Princesses will begin their World Cup journey against Austria on September 2, with additional matches against Japan and New Zealand.

Liverpool are reportedly targeting Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong as they seek to strengthen their squad this summer. Manager Arne Slot is particularly impressed with the Netherlands international and is eager to bring him to Anfield.
Frimpong, who moved to Bayer Leverkusen from Manchester City in January 2021, has become a crucial player for the German club. Over 100 Bundesliga appearances, he has scored 18 goals and contributed to 56 victories.
With a buyout clause of approximately €40-45 million (£33.7-38 million) in his current contract, Frimpong is an appealing target for Liverpool. Transfermarkt values him at €50 million. Ghanaian midfielder Alfred Duncan has joined Venezia FC on a contract extending until the end of the 2025/2026 season, with an option for renewal. Duncan, 31, cited the club’s compelling project and vision as key reasons for his move.
“I chose Venezia FC because of the exciting project presented by the club and the coach,” Duncan shared. “I’m proud to be part of it and eager to contribute.”
Duncan, who started his career at Inter Milan and has accumulated 304 Serie A appearances, 14 goals, and 17 assists, brings extensive experience to Venezia. He has previously played for Livorno, Sampdoria, Sassuolo, Cagliari, and Fiorentina.
With 10 international caps for Ghana and experience in the Conference League and Europa League qualifiers and finals, Duncan joins Venezia after leaving Fiorentina, where he scored two goals and provided five assists in 41 appearances last season.
His addition is expected to bolster Venezia’s midfield as they prepare for the upcoming Serie A season.

Ghana U20 winger Abdul Hakim Sulemana has signed a long-term contract with Danish Superliga club Randers FC after reaching an agreement with Olympique Lyonnais. As part of the deal, Lyon will receive a percentage of any future transfer fee for Sulemana.
Sulemana, the younger brother of Southampton’s Kamaldeen Sulemana, departs Lyon in search of regular playing time. Despite his potential and impressive performances at the African Games, where he played a key role in Ghana’s gold medal win, he struggled to secure a spot in Lyon’s first team.
Randers FC is set to officially unveil Sulemana in the coming days as he embarks on his new journey in Denmark.
