Blow Chem Industries has partnered with the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) as the main sponsor of the professional boxing league.
Blow Chem Ghana signed a long-term agreement, with undisclosed terms, to have their Bel 7Star energy drink serve as the lead sponsor for the leagueâs third season. The announcement was made at the Bukom Boxing Arena on Saturday, July 20, 2024.
As a result of this partnership, the competition will now be known as the Bel 7Star Boxing Professional League, taking over from De-Luxy Paint, which was the headline sponsor during the leagueâs inaugural season.
At the unveiling event, Mr. Magnus Dey, Head of Marketing for Blow Chem, explained the reasons behind their collaboration with the Ghana Boxing Authority:
âBoxing to us is just not a sport. Itâs more like a cultural heritage that needs to be preserved, especially for the people of Bukom, who are passionate about our boxing,â he said.
âAs a brand committed to community development, we took it upon ourselves to support this prolific sport and boost the confidence of our local fighters, giving them the opportunity they need to showcase their skills and determination on a national scale.â
Abraham Kotei Neequaye, President of the Ghana Boxing Authority, praised Blow Chem Industries for their decision to become the headline sponsor:
âFor Bel 7Star coming on board, we are very happy, and we know we are going to build on this relationship,â he said. âWe know next year they will still be with us because we will continue the league. We have done seasons one and two, and this is the third season we are doing now.â
The third season of the league officially began with the inaugural fight night at the Bukom Boxing Arena following the launch.

Black Stars winger Osman Bukari made his Major League Soccer (MLS) debut for Austin FC after signing with the team in June.
Bukari started and played 57 minutes in Austinâs 2-2 draw with Charlotte FC, marking his first appearance for the club after joining from Red Star Belgrade in Serbia.
In a post-game press conference, Austin FC head coach Josh Wolff praised Bukariâs performance, especially given his lack of preseason preparation with the team.
âI think Buka (Osman Bukari) has qualities that are going to unbalance the opposition. Right away, he provided a change of speed, and he certainly got around the corner a couple of times. If Gyasi (Zardes) capitalizes on that, itâs a fantastic start to the game, but all in all, I thought he did well.â
âI think the more he gets familiar with the group and the more the group gets familiar with him and his unique qualities, the better it will be,â Wolff added.
Bukari is expected to feature in Austinâs next game on July 27 in the Leagues Cup.

Black Stars and Los Angeles Galaxy winger Joseph Paintsil is taking a positive view of missing several games due to a hamstring injury.
In a post-game interview following the Galaxy’s 3-2 win over the Portland Timbers in a Major League Soccer (MLS) match, Paintsil discussed his injury with an optimistic outlook, having scored a goal and provided two assists in the victory.
“I think the injury taught me a lesson because I needed to relax. I was playing a lot of games, almost a half-season in Genk, and continued the following season here. The rest helped me, because otherwise, my body would be really down, and I might have multiple injuries. I am really happy with the level I am at now,” Paintsil said.
Paintsilâs performance against Portland matched his production in the previous game against the Colorado Rapids, which also ended in a 3-2 win for the Galaxy.
The hamstring injury forced Paintsil to miss Ghanaâs 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic.
