Sammy Kuffour Supports Vincent Kompany’s Appointment as Bayern Munich Coach

Sammy Kuffour Supports Vincent Kompany’s Appointment as Bayern Munich Coach

Bayern Munich legend Samuel Osei Kuffour believes Vincent Kompany can bring success to the German club following his appointment as coach.

The former Manchester City captain replaced Thomas Tuchel, who left after a trophyless season with the European heavyweights.

Despite Kompany’s recent experience leading Burnley back to the Championship following their relegation from the Premier League, Kuffour argues that the Belgian has the right skills to succeed in Germany.

“When he was appointed, we had a debate on our legends platform. It was a huge debate, and I was in support. Why not give someone the benefit of the doubt? Because I think he understands. From his team, if he had the quality like Man City, he can do better,” he told Angel TV’s Saddick Adams.

“So if he has the quality to be in this great club and the kind of quality he has. I think he will cause a big surprise in Europe,” he added.

While Bayern Munich will prioritize winning the Bundesliga, Kuffour is confident Kompany can also excel in European competitions.

“Yes, of course. Did we deserve to lose against Real Madrid? Absolutely not. I mean, this is how football is, but I believe if you have the opportunity to coach a team like Bayern Munich, it’s a great thing you have to do to protect your image,” he said.

Majeed Ashimeru Starts Early Pre-Season Training with Anderlecht

Black Stars midfielder Abdul Majeed Ashimeru has returned to Belgium after a brief holiday in Ghana to commence pre-season training with Anderlecht.

The Anderlecht star looked noticeably different after cutting off his braids as he joined his teammates for early preparations ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Ashimeru underwent the necessary tests before training officially began on Friday, June 21, 2024.

Anderlecht has scheduled a series of friendlies, including matches against SC Braga of Portugal, Germany’s FC Wolfsburg, and FC Metz.

The former Red Bull Salzburg player spent much of last season recovering from persistent injuries, including one sustained during Ghana’s game against Mozambique at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast earlier this year.

The 26-year-old hopes to stay injury-free in the upcoming campaign as he aims to help Anderlecht return to their best next season.

Ashimeru missed the Ghana World Cup qualifiers in June after being excused by coach Otto Addo due to his injury issues.
