Real Tamale United (RTU) Football Club head coach, Iddi Manzah Alhassan, expressed confidence that his team will make a swift return to the Ghana Premier League following their relegation. This statement came after a 2-0 loss to Kumasi Asante Kotoko officially confirmed RTU’s drop to the Access Bank Division One Zone A.
RTU conceded goals from Paul Acquah in the 60th minute and Bernard Somuah in the 85th minute, placing Kotoko in eighth place in the standings. The defeat condemned RTU to the bottom of the league table, but Manzah Alhassan remains optimistic about the future.
“I want to assure our supporters that while we are going down now, we will return to the Premier League next year. They should keep supporting the team, and we will give our best.”
RTU is set to face Dreams FC and Accra Great Olympics on June 12 and June 15 to close out the season.

Army Ladies secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Police Ladies at the University of Ghana Stadium, clinching the coveted 2023/24 Ghana Women’s FA Cup title.
From the whistle, both teams launched into action, applying intense pressure in pursuit of an early breakthrough while maintaining defensive solidity. Despite numerous goal attempts from both sides, the first half ended in a deadlock.
After the break, Army Ladies seized the initiative, breaking the deadlock just four minutes into the second half through Deborah Opoku, who capitalized on a goalkeeping error by the Police goalkeeper.
Undeterred by the goal, Police Ladies intensified their offensive efforts, launching attacks from all angles yet failing to convert any of their chances. Army Ladies faced a setback when lone goal heroine Deborah Opoku received a red card from referee Rejoice Addokwei, reducing them to ten players in the last 20 minutes of the match.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, Army Ladies held on to their lead, securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory at full time and claiming their inaugural Women’s FA Cup title.

In a dramatic showdown, Hasaacas Ladies triumphed over Ampem Darkoa Ladies, ending their two-year dominance in the 2023/24 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League.
The ‘Hasmal Ladies’ demonstrated their skill early on, with Veronica Baah Kumah’s powerful strike opening the scoring just eleven minutes into the match. The momentum continued as Black Queens striker Abdulai Mukarama connected with Firdaus Yakubu’s precise cross, extending their lead with a brave header.
Despite a strong second-half comeback by Ampem Darkoa, Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah’s late goal provided only a glimmer of hope. Hasaacas Ladies secured a 2-1 victory at full time.
With this triumph, Hasaacas Ladies now aim for success in the WAFU Zone B qualifiers, seeking a coveted spot in the Champions League. They look to build on their historic participation in the inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League in 2021, where they reached the final, narrowly missing out on the title to Sundowns Ladies.
