Ouattara: “Hearts of Oak, Not Me, Are Under Pressure” After Kotoko Defeat

Accra Hearts of Oak’s Head Coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has stated that he personally feels no pressure despite the team’s recent struggles in the Ghana Premier League.

The Phobians faced another setback with a loss to their fierce rivals, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, in the Super Clash at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday, May 26, 2024.

During the post-match press conference, when asked about the pressure to deliver results, Ouattara emphasized that the pressure is on the team as a whole, not on him individually.

“The reality of football is that sometimes you can’t score or play well. We didn’t take our chances. Kotoko were the better side today, and I congratulate them. We played badly once again. No, I am not under pressure, the team is under pressure. We need the points to survive,” Ouattara explained.

Fabrizio Romano: High Probability of Thomas Partey Leaving Arsenal

Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey is likely to leave Arsenal before the start of the 2024-2025 season, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Romano shared this insight during an appearance on the JD Football Podcast, discussing Arsenal’s future plans after narrowly missing out on the 2023-2024 English Premier League title. Manchester City clinched the title with 91 points, just two points ahead of Arsenal’s 89.

On the podcast, Romano suggested that Partey is poised for an exit and that Arsenal is close to signing a new left-back.

“They have several players lined up. There is a good chance they will bring in a new midfielder. Thomas Partey will leave, Jorginho has been extended, but I also think they want to sign a new left-back,” Romano stated.

Partey had another injury-plagued season, making only 16 appearances in all competitions as the Gunners pursued their first EPL title in 21 years.

“After we came back from Russia (pre-WAFU tournament), I decided that whether we win or qualify, I’m moving on. So in this case, I’m resigning after this tournament as Under-17 coach. I made that decision already before the tournament started.”

Ghanaian winger Ernest Nuamah narrowly missed out on securing his first trophy with Olympique Lyon following a 2-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Coupe de France (French Cup) Final.

PSG took an early lead with goals from Ousmane Dembele and Fabian Ruiz in the first half. Lyon’s Jake O’Brien managed to score a consolation goal in the 55th minute.

Nuamah entered the match in the 67th minute, replacing fellow young talent Rayan Cherki. This appearance marked his third in the French Cup. During his time on the pitch, the 20-year-old former FC Nordsjaelland player had 10 touches, completed all three of his passes, but won only two of seven ground duels and was dribbled past four times.

PSG’s victory also marked the end of Kylian Mbappe’s tenure at the club, as he announced his departure at the end of the season.

In his debut season with Lyon, Nuamah played 29 matches in the French Ligue 1, scoring three goals and providing two assists. He also made his debut with Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team, the Black Stars, during the 2023-2024 campaign and participated in the 2023 AFCON.
