Ghanaian midfielder Michael Baidoo showcased his talent in response to transfer speculation linking him with a move to Leicester City, delivering a stellar performance on Monday.
The 25-year-old scored one goal and provided an assist in IF Elfsborg’s dominant 6-1 victory over AIK Stockholm during the Swedish Allsvenskan’s Round 9 at Boras Arena.
Ghanaian teenager Jalal Abdullai opened the scoring for Elfsborg just six minutes into the match, courtesy of an assist from Baidoo. Abdullai doubled the lead shortly after, followed by a goal from Ahmed Qasem, putting the home team comfortably ahead by half-time.
Early in the second half, Baidoo added to the tally with a brilliant solo effort, navigating through AIK’s defense to score. Qasem then netted his second goal at the 60-minute mark and completed his hat-trick just before the final whistle.
AIK’s Bersant Celina scored a consolation goal in the 73rd minute. The visitors ended the match with ten players after Mads Thychosen was sent off.
Baidoo, who is drawing attention for a potential summer transfer, now boasts 3 goals and 2 assists in eight appearances for Elfsborg this season.

Black Starlets head coach Laryea Kingston is elated after guiding his team to a resounding 5-1 victory over Ivory Coast in their first match of the WAFU B U17 Cup of Nations.
Ghana’s U17 squad displayed their skill with goals from Joseph Narbi (2), Godfred Sarpong, Harve Gbafa, and Mark Kagawa Mensah, securing a dominant win.
In his post-match interview, Coach Kingston acknowledged the formidable challenge posed by the Ivorian team, praising their quality. Despite the convincing scoreline, he emphasized the difficulties his team faced during the match.
“It’s a joy. We have to enjoy it. It wasn’t an easy game. The Ivorians are not an easy side. They made it difficult for us. We found it difficult to keep the game because of the way they play. I’m excited. Now Ghanaians have to have fun because it’s a good win against a good side,” remarked Coach Laryea Kingston.
Following this victory, the Black Starlets are now preparing for their next match against Benin in the WAFU B U17 Cup of Nations tournament.
This win is a significant milestone in Ghana’s quest to return to the U17 Africa Cup of Nations, a tournament they have not participated in since 2017.

Ghanaian forward Naeem Mohammed played a crucial role in Halmstads BK’s impressive 3-0 victory against Häcken in the Swedish Allsvenskan on Wednesday evening.
Starting the game at the Ă–rjans Vall, Mohammed was a constant threat to the Häcken defense and was rewarded with a well-taken goal in the 44th minute. His significant impact lasted for 86 minutes, contributing to the team’s dominant performance.
Joining Mohammed on the field were fellow Ghanaians Phil Ofosu-Ayeh and Thomas Boakye. Ofosu-Ayeh, a defender, played the full game, while Boakye, an attacker, came on in the 58th minute to replace Vinicius Nogueira.
Despite Häcken dominating possession and shots, Halmstads BK demonstrated clinical finishing. Gabriel Wallentin opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, and Villiam Granath sealed the victory with a goal in the 46th minute.
Naeem Mohammed’s outstanding performance has solidified his place in the Halmstads BK squad. He has made nine appearances this season, scoring four goals and providing one assist in the 2024 Swedish Allsvenskan.

Ghanaian youngster Edmund Baidoo is drawing significant interest from several European clubs following a stellar start to the season with Sogndal in the Norwegian league.
The 18-year-old’s impressive performances have caught the eye of Norwegian giants Bodo/Glimt. However, Swedish champions Malmo FF have now entered the race to sign the talented teenager ahead of the summer transfer window.
Malmo is prepared to meet Sogndal’s asking price of around 2 million euros as they bolster their squad for next season’s European competitions.
In addition, three Belgian clubs, including KRC Genk and Club Brugge, are reportedly monitoring Baidoo’s progress in Norway.
This season, Baidoo has scored three goals and provided one assist in seven games. He joined Sogndal in 2024 from Ghanaian lower-tier side AsanSka FC.
