The Ministry of Youth and Sports has expressed high praise for the National Ambulance Service for its exceptional contributions during the recently concluded 13th All-African Games.
In a statement, the Ministry commended the National Ambulance Service for its pivotal role in providing emergency response and medical support services, underscoring its dedication to promoting public safety initiatives.
Ken Annan, Head of Public Relations at the Ministry of Sports, emphasized the significant impact of the first aid interventions provided by the National Ambulance Service, highlighting their role in saving lives during the games. He stressed the importance of acknowledging and appreciating their efforts.
Annan stated, “The life-saving interventions by the National Ambulance Service during the games were remarkable, particularly in instances where individuals fainted. The Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) went above and beyond to provide assistance, deserving of commendation.”
PAEMT Daniel Asare, the Greater Regional Administrative Manager for the National Ambulance Service, attributed their success during the tournament to the hard work and dedication of key figures within the organization, including CEO Prof Ahmed Nuhu Zakariah, Deputy Director of Operations Dr. Foster Ansong-Bridgan, and the entire NAS Coordinating team.
The 13th African Games, held in Ghana from 8th to 23rd March 2024, served as a platform to showcase sporting excellence and camaraderie among African nations.

A delegation comprising El Hadj Wack Diop, the Regional Manager for the FIFA Development Office for West & Central Africa, and Silmara Sousa, the Africa-Regional Coordinator of Member Associations Division of FIFA, has commenced a comprehensive assessment of Ghana Football Association (GFA) projects.
Arriving in Ghana on Tuesday, the delegation’s three-day visit is dedicated to engaging with the GFA to discuss various aspects of football development and review ongoing initiatives, particularly those supported under the FIFA Forward Programme.
The agenda includes a thorough examination of the GFA’s Contract of Agreed Objectives for 2023-2026 (Strategic Plan), a pre-assessment of the 11 criteria outlined in the FIFA Forward Regulations, and an overview of active projects.
Discussions will also delve into the GFA’s Technical Department, with specific focus on women’s football development, the Talent Identification Scheme (TDS), FIFA High Performance initiatives, and utilization of FIFA Forward funds.
These consultations are vital for the GFA’s future project planning, which will be presented at upcoming AFCA or DevCo meetings organized by FIFA.
On Thursday, the delegation will visit key project sites, including the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, engaging with the Technical Centre Director and Technical Director.
During their stay, meetings have been held with GFA President Edwin Simeon-Okraku, the General Secretary, the Legal Director, the women’s football development team, and the Finance Director.
El Hadj Wack Diop and Silmara Sousa are scheduled to conclude their visit and depart Ghana on Friday, March 29, 2024.

Accra, the vibrant capital of Ghana, has been designated as the host city for the upcoming 2024 U-17 Boys Cup of Nations in May, as announced by WAFU Zone B.
The tournament will showcase the talents of seven formidable teams including host nation Ghana, reigning champions Nigeria, as well as Cote D’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Togo, Benin, and Niger.
Notably, the WAFU Zone B Championship will serve a dual purpose as it will also serve as the qualifying platform for the prestigious TotalEnergies U17 Africa Cup of Nations.
With aspirations for redemption following their premature exit in the previous edition held in Cape Coast, the Black Starlets are gearing up for the challenge under the guidance of Coach Laryea Kingston. Their sights are set on securing a coveted spot in the 2024 U17 Africa Cup of Nations.
Preparations are already underway, with the tournament slated to unfold from May 15th to May 29th, 2024, promising an exciting showcase of emerging talent on the football stage in the heart of Accra.
