Renowned former Ghanaian boxer and accomplished boxing trainer, Mr. Charles Quartey, who also serves as the leader of the Ghana boxing youth team known as the Black Rockets, is putting forth his candidacy for the presidency of the United Boxing Coaches Association of Ghana.
With a substantial track record of contributions to the boxing landscape in Ghana and beyond, Charles Quartey, who is also the owner of the Charles Quartey Boxing Foundation, seeks to lead the association with the goal of elevating the standards for coaches. Notably, his foundation secured victory in the Ghana Professional Boxing League last season and was poised to continue its success in the halted second edition.
Charles Quartey’s aspiration to head the United Boxing Coaches Association stems from his desire to address the challenges faced by coaches, where unfair treatment and lack of support often go unaddressed. He envisions a more inclusive decision-making process, emphasizing that every coach should have a voice, and decisions should not be one-sided based solely on the association’s directives.
Furthermore, Quartey’s primary focus is on collaborating with young coaches, aiming to build a united front within the association. He believes that by working together, they can elevate Ghana’s boxing scene to new heights, fostering unity among coaches and reigniting a passion for the sport.
In a conversation with Augustus Dodoo over the phone, Charles Quartey expressed his commitment to bringing positive change to the United Boxing Coaches Association and revitalizing the love for boxing among all stakeholders.

Rosalind Koramah Amoh, the Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Graphic and a trailblazer in women’s football, has been appointed as the chairperson of a four-member committee for the Women’s FA Cup.
With an extensive background in sports journalism, particularly in women’s football, Rosalind Amoh is well-equipped to lead the committee in organizing the Women’s FA Cup competition. Her notable roles include serving on the Women’s League Board, the Black Princesses Management Committee, and the Media Committee of the GFA.
Florence Bameh, a banker who previously served on the committee, assumes the role of Vice Chairperson. The committee further includes Afia Achia Boateng, the administrative manager of Accra Hearts of Oak, and Nana Ama Addo of Soccer Intellectuals.
The Women’s FA Cup Committee has been entrusted with the responsibility of formulating policies and programs for the implementation of the Competitions Department, aiming to ensure the overall success of the competition. Additionally, the committee is tasked with introducing innovative approaches to deliver an engaging knockout event for the competition’s patrons.
Beyond organization, the Women’s FA Cup Committee is committed to ensuring that sponsors, partners, and all stakeholders involved in the competition receive the anticipated benefits for their investments in the event.

In anticipation of the Futsal Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana’s head coach, Philip Boakye, expresses confidence in the team’s readiness for the upcoming clash.

Following Egypt’s disappointing exit from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has issued a statement expressing regret for the team’s performance. Egypt faced a series of challenges, securing three consecutive 2-2 draws in the group stage against Mozambique, Ghana, and Cape Verde before a 1-1 stalemate against DR Congo in the round of 16, ultimately leading to a penalty shootout loss.
In response to public outrage and disappointment, the EFA issued an apology just two days after their AFCON exit. The statement conveyed the EFA’s remorse for the results presented by the national football team during the tournament held in Ivory Coast. Zamalek has successfully completed the signing of Nasser Maher, formerly of Al Ahly, from Future FC in a deal for an undisclosed fee. As part of the agreement, Amr El-Sisi has moved permanently in the opposite direction, accompanied by the loan transfers of young talents Abdallah Mohamed and Ali Yasser.
Nasser Maher, a product of Al Ahly’s youth sector, returned to Zamalek after joining Future FC in September 2021. During his stint at Future FC, Maher made 58 appearances, contributing with seven goals and seven assists. However, his playing time reduced significantly in the current season, featuring in just eight games and scoring once.
Maher’s arrival adds depth to Zamalek’s midfield and further strengthens the team in their pursuit of success. He joins a list of winter signings for Zamalek, including Abdallah El-Said, Ahmed Hamdi, and Seif Farouk Gaafar.
In a reciprocal move, Amr El-Sisi departs Zamalek after two seasons, following a €1 million deal that brought him from El-Gaish. During his time with Zamalek, El-Sisi made 36 appearances and scored twice. The winter transfer activity showcases Zamalek’s commitment to building a competitive squad for upcoming challenges.
