Patrick Akoto, the Director of Communications for Medeama SC, has been appointed to lead the Ghana Has Talent Committee. Tasked with the planning and organization of the National Division Two Super Cup, the committee aims to bring together the best Division Two clubs from various regions for a competitive platform. This competition will also serve as a crucial preparatory ground for regional Division Two league champions as they gear up for the Access Bank Division One League.
With a wealth of experience in football administration and media management spanning 15 years, Patrick Akoto’s background includes roles at Choice FM, Rite Multimedia, and as the editor of ghanasoccernet. A graduate of Accra Academy and the Ghana Institute of Journalism, Akoto is well-equipped to lead the committee in its efforts to elevate the National Division Two Super Cup and foster talent development.
Additionally, the committee’s leadership includes Stephen Appiah, the General Manager of PAC, who will serve as the vice chairman. Together, they aim to create a platform that not only showcases the talent of Division Two clubs but also facilitates their growth and readiness for higher-level competitions.

As Tanzania gears up to kick off their AFCON 2023 campaign on January 17 against Morocco in Group F, Ugandans are actively showing support for their East African neighbors. Despite Uganda not making it to the tournament, football enthusiasts in Uganda express solidarity with Tanzania, considering them as flag bearers for the region in Cote d’Ivoire.
Football supporter Grace Nabachwa in Kampala emphasized the importance of supporting Tanzania, stating, “We must support our brothers from Tanzania because they are now carrying the regional flag in Cote d’Ivoire.” Uganda captain Khalid Aucho, who plays for Young Africans SC in the Tanzania Premier League, echoed this sentiment, extending well wishes to Tanzania and emphasizing that they have the full support of Uganda.
Even though Tanzania qualified at the expense of Uganda, fans like Fred Musaasizi expressed their commitment to backing Tanzania throughout the tournament, highlighting the fraternity between the two nations. Josephine Adoch, another football enthusiast, sees the AFCON as an opportunity to support Tanzania, citing the commonalities shared by the two nations in the same football zone.
Former Uganda striker Mujib Kasule stressed the importance of supporting Tanzania, given their shared football zone, and advised Tanzania to approach each match as if it were a final. While Ethiopia and Sudan are the only teams from the CECAFA Zone to have won an AFCON title, Ugandans rally behind Tanzania in hopes of a strong representation for East Africa in the prestigious tournament.

Ghanaian supporters who were transported to Ivory Coast to cheer for the Ghana Black Stars during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) have received compensation of US$400 each. The supporters had initially expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of proper coordination and support, prompting them to consider returning to Ghana and naming the officials responsible for their frustration.
Following negotiations with officials, over 300 supporters have decided not to return home after receiving the promised compensation. The disbursement of funds aims to address the supporters’ concerns and improve their experience during the ongoing AFCON tournament.
The compensation comes after the supporters had threatened to abandon their mission due to perceived neglect. Although it remains unclear if the $400 is a one-time payment or covers the entire tournament, the gesture from the organizing bodies aims to restore a positive atmosphere and ensure continued support for the Ghana Black Stars in Ivory Coast.

Ghana Premier League powerhouse, Hearts of Oak, is reportedly in the final stages of negotiations with former head coach Samuel Boadu for a potential comeback to the club. According to Onua Sports, the Rainbow club is engaging in talks with the seasoned tactician to lead the team once again.
Boadu initially took charge of Hearts in March 2021, signing a three-and-a-half-year deal following the departure of Serbian coach Kosta Papic. His earlier tenure proved successful, securing five trophies in less than two years, including the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League, two FA Cups (2021, 2021), the Ghana Super Cup, and the President’s Cup. Boadu’s time at Hearts also saw personal milestones, as he tied the knot with Felicia Apimpanta in August 2021.
Despite the achievements, Boadu faced challenges during Hearts’ first CAF inter-club campaign since 2015. Now, discussions suggest that he could make a return to the club, potentially filling the vacancy left by the departure of Martin Koopman, who was dismissed after 10 games into the current season.
Hearts of Oak currently occupies the 10th position on the Ghana Premier League table with 21 points after completing the first round of matches.
