Football pundit Jamie Redknapp has heaped praise on Black Stars forward Antoine Semenyo for his impressive start to the 2024-2025 English Premier League season. Semenyo, who scored in the opening week and provided an assist in AFC Bournemouth’s draws against Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United, was singled out by Redknapp for his outstanding performance.
Redknapp lauded Semenyo’s play during Bournemouth’s 125th-anniversary match against Newcastle, saying, “Semenyo on the right wing is an absolute star. He cost ÂŁ10 million from Bristol City, and what a great signing he was. He is worth a fortune; such a graceful, powerful player. He’s got everything, that young man.”
Semenyo, who started as the main striker against Nottingham Forest before moving to the right wing against Newcastle, is expected to feature for the Black Stars in the upcoming 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Angola and Niger on September 5 and September 9, respectively.

FC Samartex 1996 head coach, Nurudeen Amadu, is elated after his team advanced to the second round of the CAF Champions League. A crucial 1-0 victory over Victoria United of Cameroon at the Accra Sports Stadium, courtesy of an eighth-minute goal by left-back Isaac Afful, secured a 2-0 aggregate win following their first-leg success in Cameroon.
Reflecting on the win, which sets up a clash with Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca, Amadu expressed his satisfaction, saying, “It’s a good feeling to have progressed to the next stage, especially in our first-ever campaign. It would have been disappointing to exit after winning the first leg, so we’re pleased to move forward.”
Samartex will face Raja Casablanca in the first leg in Accra on September 13, with the return leg scheduled for September 20.

FC Barcelona has extended an invitation to 17-year-old Ghanaian striker Musibau Aziz for a trial, as the Spanish giants consider adding the talented young player to their ranks. Aziz, who currently represents Still Believe FC and the Ghana U20 team, will travel to Barcelona for a chance to showcase his abilities and potentially secure a spot in the prestigious La Masia academy.
The trial, scheduled for the final week of August, will allow Barcelona’s coaches to assess Aziz’s fit within their development program. Over the following six weeks, additional evaluations and meetings will determine whether he earns a contract with the club.
Aziz, a key figure in Ghana’s U20 squad that won the African Games in March, has demonstrated remarkable performance in the Greater Accra Second Division. He scored 27 goals in the main league and five in the middle league for the 2022-23 season, earning man of the match honors in three consecutive games. His impressive form continued into the Ghana First Division, where he netted five goals in ten appearances last season.
