Black Stars defender Tariq Lamptey has attracted attention from several clubs as the summer transfer window nears its close. The 23-year-old right-back, who is in the final year of his contract with Brighton and Hove Albion, is reportedly on the radar of teams in both England and Europe, with significant interest from clubs in France and Germany.
Since joining Brighton from Chelsea in 2020, Lamptey’s career has been marked by both promise and setbacks due to recurring injuries. Despite these challenges, he has made 102 appearances, scored two goals, and provided nine assists for the Seagulls.
Reports from Sky Sports highlight that despite his injury concerns, Lamptey’s potential continues to attract suitors. However, his absence from Brighton’s opening Premier League match against Everton has raised concerns about his fitness. As the transfer window approaches its final days, Lamptey’s future remains uncertain, with interested clubs carefully considering the risks and rewards of signing the talented but injury-prone defender.

Berekum Chelsea has officially committed to coach Samuel Boadu for the next two seasons, following his impressive performance after joining the club mid-season. The former Hearts of Oak manager led the team to a third-place finish last season, prompting the club’s owner, Bernard Nana Yaw Amofa Jantuah, to extend Boadu’s contract.
Jantuah expressed confidence that Berekum Chelsea could have contended for the league title if Boadu had been in charge from the start. “We should have won the Ghana Premier League title last season, but our coach left us in the second round, which derailed our chances,” he told Kessben FM.
With Boadu now secured for two years, Berekum Chelsea’s focus is firmly on capturing the 2024/25 league title, a feat they last achieved in 2011.

The upcoming Ghana Premier League (GPL) season is facing uncertainty due to the absence of a title sponsor, with Berekum Chelsea’s owner, Bernard Nana Yaw Amofa Jantuah, calling on the government for assistance. Following the unexpected termination of Betpawa’s three-year sponsorship deal just over a year into the contract, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is left searching for financial support.
During an interview with Kessben FM, Jantuah, a well-known businessman, voiced his concerns over the lack of sponsorship, stressing the financial strain it places on clubs. “There is no sponsorship for the Ghana Premier League… The cost involved in running a club isn’t easy, so I will plead with the government to help the FA secure sponsorship in order to relieve clubs from their burden,” he said.
Jantuah also highlighted the inadequate prize money, pointing out that the league struggles to offer $200,000 for a season. With Berekum Chelsea preparing for the September kick-off, the financial challenges looming over the league remain a significant worry.

Hasaacas Ladies have been eliminated from the WAFU Zone B qualifiers, missing out on a top-two finish in Group B and ending their hopes of competing in the CAF Women’s Champions League. The Sekondi-based team finished third in the group with four points, following a 6-1 win over AS Garde of Niger, a goalless draw with Omnisports of Burkina Faso, and a 3-0 loss to Edo Queens of Nigeria.
Despite a +2 goal difference, Hasaacas fell short as Omnisports advanced with a +4 goal difference alongside group leaders Edo Queens. The team’s struggles in front of goal, particularly in the first two matches, were highlighted by assistant head coach Emmanuel Mensah as a key factor in their elimination. Head coach Yusif Basigi was absent, as he is currently in Colombia leading Ghana’s Under-20 Women’s Team at the Under-20 Women’s World Cup.
