Kurt Okraku Hails CAF’s Progress at WAFU-B General Assembly

At the 17th WAFU-B General Assembly in Niger, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, President of WAFU Zone B, delivered a glowing endorsement of CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe’s leadership. As Dr. Motsepe eyes a second term in 2025, Okraku reflected on the remarkable strides African football has made under his stewardship.

Addressing the assembly, Okraku highlighted the reforms spearheaded by Dr. Motsepe, which have revitalized CAF’s financial health, strengthened governance, and bolstered grassroots development.

“You have shaped the future of African football and positioned CAF to even greater heights,” Okraku stated, pledging WAFU-B’s full support for Motsepe’s re-election campaign.

Under Motsepe’s leadership, CAF has introduced groundbreaking initiatives, including increased funding for Member Associations, higher prize money for tournaments like AFCON, CHAN, and the Women’s Champions League, as well as the creation of the African Club Association. These changes have elevated African football on the global stage.

Refereeing reforms, capacity-building programs, and the inclusion of Zonal Union Presidents on CAF’s Executive Committee were also highlighted as part of the transformational journey.

Okraku extended gratitude to the Nigerien government for hosting the assembly and lauded the contributions of CAF General Secretary Veron Mosengo, the Nigerien Football Federation, and WAFU-B officials in advancing the region’s football agenda.
