Spintex Knights Basketball Club co-founder, Dr. Eric Opoku-Antwi, emphasized the need for the team to boost its size and scoring ability before their upcoming participation in the Elite 16 stage of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). In an interview with Citi Sports, following the club’s historic achievement as the first Ghanaian team to advance to this stage, Opoku-Antwi noted that the team is working to recruit players with more size and scoring prowess.
The Knights finished second in Group B of the West Division during the preliminary round held in Libya. As they prepare for the Elite 16 from November 5 to 10 in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire, Opoku-Antwi also highlighted the need for financial support to cover travel and recruitment expenses. The club has already signed 6’8″ Power Forward/Center Larry Johnson and American Shooting Guard/Small Forward Deshang Weaver from Oral Roberts University.
