IBA and AFBC Strengthen Partnership to Secure the Future of Boxing in Africa
On October 9, 2024, IBA President Umar Kremlev and AFBC President Eyassu Wossen met with AFBC board members in Dubai to discuss a strategic plan to elevate boxing across Africa. The IBA has already provided over $1.2 million in funding, equipment, and prize money to African boxing federations and athletes. This includes support for events like the IBA Champions’ Nights and African Boxing Championships. The partnership aims to build local expertise, promote women’s boxing, and enhance leadership within African federations. The upcoming AFBC Men’s and Women’s Championships in Kinshasa will be a key highlight.
