Naeem Mohammed’s Israeli Dream Falls Through After Fee Dispute
Ghanaian forward Naeem Mohammed’s anticipated move to Israeli Premier League side Maccabi Netanya has hit a dead end after transfer talks collapsed over a fee disagreement.
The 28-year-old Halmstads BK striker was on the verge of signing a three-year deal with the Netanya-based club in a transfer believed to be worth around €190,000. However, the Swedish side’s valuation of the player proved to be a stumbling block, and negotiations ultimately broke down.
Halmstads BK’s sporting director, Jesper Westerberg, confirmed to Hallandsposten that the chapter is closed for now:
> “They didn’t achieve any success there, so that door is closed right now. An offer will come that suits us, suits him, and suits a club — but so far, nothing has matched.”
Mohammed, a former Sandvikens IF attacker, has been a key figure for HBK this season, scoring three goals and providing two assists in 16 Allsvenskan appearances. Despite his consistent performances, he is still awaiting his first call-up to the Ghana Black Stars.
