GFA Vows Full Backing as Black Queens Chase WAFCON Gold Glory

The dream is alive — and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is all in.

After making a triumphant return to the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in 2024 and clinching bronze in a nail-biting shootout against South Africa, the Black Queens are hungrier than ever for gold. And standing firmly behind them is the GFA.

Speaking on Sportsblog247.com, Henry Asante Twum, the GFA’s Communications Director, declared the Association’s unwavering commitment to the Queens’ continental ambitions.

> “The GFA has taken care of the Black Queens’ coaches for the past three years. We’ve come this far, and we will continue to push to win gold for Ghana,” he emphasized.

Ghana’s journey back to the top of women’s football hasn’t been smooth — a six-year WAFCON absence, rebuilding a squad, and navigating funding and logistical challenges. Yet, the Queens have steadily risen from the ashes, and now, with support from the top, the golden finish no longer feels like a fantasy.

Asante Twum also turned his gaze beyond the continent — to Brazil, the host of the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. With Africa’s World Cup slots expanded, Ghana’s chances look brighter than ever.

> “Fortunately, the slots for Africa have increased, so we are hoping to qualify for the next edition of the Women’s World Cup in Brazil,” he added with optimism.

With momentum, support, and belief all aligned, the Black Queens aren’t just aiming to compete — they’re aiming to conquer.

Ghana’s Queens have returned. And this time, they want the crown. ⚽
