🇬🇭 Black Stars Search Intensifies: Pitso Mosimane Enters Race for Ghana Job

Veteran South African tactician Pitso Mosimane has officially submitted his application for the vacant Black Stars head coaching role, according to exclusive reports.

The position became available after the Ghana Football Association parted ways with Otto Addo on Monday, March 31, following a disappointing international window.

Addo, who had been in charge since March 2024, was dismissed after Ghana suffered consecutive defeats against Austria and Germany. The Black Stars endured a heavy 5-1 loss in Vienna before falling 2-1 in Stuttgart in their final preparatory match.

Despite successfully guiding Ghana to qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, concerns over inconsistent performances ultimately led to his exit.

Speaking on the ongoing recruitment process, Kurt Okraku revealed that more than 600 applications have been received for the high-profile role. Among them, Mosimane stands out as one of the most accomplished candidates.

Renowned for his wealth of experience, Mosimane has managed top clubs including Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly, achieving remarkable success. He famously led Sundowns to a CAF Champions League title and later secured back-to-back triumphs with Al Ahly.

Although currently without a club since January 2025, Mosimane has openly expressed his desire to return to top-level coaching, making the Ghana job an appealing opportunity—especially with the 2026 World Cup on the horizon and AFCON approaching.

Ghana’s World Cup journey is set to begin on June 18 against Panama, followed by a clash with England, before wrapping up the group stage against Croatia.

With expectations high and time ticking, the Black Stars’ next coaching appointment could play a defining role in shaping their global campaign.
