🇬🇭 Ghana Eyes World-Class Coach as Black Stars Prepare for World Cup Challenge

The Government of Ghana has reaffirmed its strong support for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in securing a highly experienced and reputable head coach for the Black Stars ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026.

This decision follows the departure of Otto Addo, who was relieved of his duties after a run of disappointing results.

A number of respected and accomplished coaches have reportedly shown interest in the role, including Kwesi Appiah, Walid Regragui, Pitso Mosimane, Tom Saintfiet, and Hervé Renard.

Sources indicate that the government, through the Ministry of Sports, is ready to provide the necessary financial backing to ensure the GFA appoints a top-tier coach with a proven track record. Authorities have urged the association to focus on experience, success, and strong leadership qualities in their selection.

GFA President Kurt Okraku emphasized in an interview that the association is determined to appoint a coach with a winning mentality—someone capable of inspiring confidence and commanding respect within the squad.

The Black Stars are set to make their fifth World Cup appearance and have been drawn in a challenging Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia. The tournament is scheduled to kick off on June 11 across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
