Liverpool may be forced into the transfer market for a marquee attacking signing this summer should Mohamed Salah complete a long-rumoured move to the Saudi Pro League.
Speculation over Salah’s future has intensified in recent months, with reports suggesting the 33-year-old has given the green light for talks between his representatives and Saudi giants Al-Ittihad. The club previously saw a £150 million bid for the Egyptian winger rejected, but Salah is now said to be more open to an exit at the end of the season if an agreement can be reached.
Losing Salah would leave a huge void at Anfield, with the forward widely regarded as Liverpool’s most influential player of the modern era. Replacing him would be a daunting task, requiring a significant financial outlay and a player capable of delivering goals, creativity, and consistency at the highest level.
Several elite options have already been linked as potential successors:
Yan Diomande
The highly-rated teenage winger from RB Leipzig has emerged as one of the Bundesliga’s most exciting prospects. Valued at around £87 million, Diomande is believed to be on Liverpool’s radar, with Premier League rivals Manchester United and Arsenal also monitoring his progress. He is viewed as a long-term solution rather than an immediate like-for-like replacement.
Bradley Barcola
Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola has impressed with his flair, pace, and technical quality. Despite limited league starts due to fierce competition at PSG, the French international has played a key role in the club’s domestic and European success. A move to Liverpool could offer him a starring role, with his versatility allowing him to operate effectively on either wing.
Raphinha
Since leaving Leeds United for Barcelona in 2022, Raphinha has developed into one of world football’s top wide attackers. His goal output and big-game experience make him an ideal candidate to replace Salah.
However, extracting him from the Camp Nou would be difficult, although Barcelona’s ongoing financial challenges could make a substantial offer hard to refuse.
Michael Olise
Now thriving at Bayern Munich, Olise has enjoyed a sensational season, registering 10 goals and 18 assists in just 21 league appearances. The French winger’s Premier League experience and creative output make him an appealing option. However, with a contract running until 2029, Bayern are under no pressure to sell.
As uncertainty surrounds Salah’s future, Liverpool are already weighing up their options in preparation for a possible post-Salah era.

Premier League heavyweights Liverpool are reportedly planning to activate the buy-back clause in Jarrel Quansah’s contract to bring the English-Ghanaian defender back to Anfield in the summer of 2027.
Quansah, 23, left Liverpool last summer to join German champions Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth around €35 million. Since his move to the Bundesliga, the centre-back has grown into a key figure for the club, delivering consistent performances at the heart of Leverkusen’s defence.
With Liverpool facing a potential defensive overhaul amid injuries and the possible exit of senior defenders, the club has identified Quansah as a long-term solution and is prepared to re-sign him under the terms of the original agreement. The buy-back option is believed to be set at approximately €35 million.
The defender has enjoyed an impressive spell in Germany, making 28 appearances across all competitions and scoring two goals, despite being contracted to Bayer Leverkusen until 2030.
Quansah’s departure from Liverpool was driven by limited playing opportunities, a factor that influenced his decision to seek regular first-team football elsewhere. His development has since been rewarded with an international breakthrough, as he made his debut for England’s senior national team in November 2025, effectively ruling out a future switch to represent Ghana.
The highly-rated defender will now be targeting a place in England’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

As the Holy Bible calls on believers to remain steadfast through trials, Mohamed Salah’s long and emotional journey with the Egyptian national team reflects that same spirit of perseverance and faith.
Much like Lionel Messi’s path to World Cup glory with Argentina, Salah’s pursuit of the Africa Cup of Nations has been marked by near misses, crushing disappointment, and unyielding hope. Despite conquering club football at the highest level — winning the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup — the AFCON title remains the one major honour missing from his glittering career.
Now 33, Salah has come agonisingly close on two occasions. He featured in the AFCON finals of 2017 and 2022, only to taste defeat against Cameroon and Senegal respectively. The loss to Senegal was particularly painful, ending in a penalty shootout where Liverpool teammate Sadio Mané was seen consoling a heartbroken Salah.
In both tournaments, the Egyptian captain was instrumental — scoring crucial goals, creating opportunities, and leading the Pharaohs with passion and determination.
His AFCON journey has also included unexpected Round of 16 exits in 2019 and 2023, further deepening the emotional scars of an already testing quest.
Yet Salah remains undeterred. With just two matches standing between him and history, the Liverpool star has a golden opportunity to guide Egypt to a record-extending eighth AFCON crown.
Achieving that feat would elevate him beyond club greatness, sealing his status as one of Egypt’s greatest football legends.
The lingering question now is whether Mohamed Salah can finally lift Africa’s most coveted trophy and complete the final chapter of his remarkable career.

AFC Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo has opened up about the swirling transfer speculation linking him to Premier League powerhouses Liverpool and Manchester United — but the Ghanaian star insists he’s staying grounded and focused on the job at hand.
After a breakout season that saw him become one of Bournemouth’s most influential players, Semenyo caught the eye of several top European clubs. However, instead of seeking a move, the 25-year-old extended his stay at the Vitality Stadium, penning a long-term contract until 2030 — reportedly featuring a £75 million release clause.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Semenyo admitted he’s aware of the rumours but remains fully committed to Bournemouth’s project under manager Andoni Iraola.
> “I don’t think about it too much. I try to stay present as much as I can,” he said. “You see the news all the time — I see it too — but I just stay focused. I’m enjoying my football here. If I’m not scoring goals, all of that goes away. So I just focus on helping the team, scoring goals, and whatever happens in the future happens.”
The Ghana international also reflected on his decision to sign a new deal despite heavy interest during the summer.
> “There was a lot of back and forth when the transfer window opened, but I believed in the manager’s vision. The way we ended last season gave me hope, and the new players we’ve brought in have made us even stronger. I’m glad I stayed — I’m enjoying every moment.”
Semenyo’s faith appears to be paying off. He’s been in red-hot form this season, notching six goals and three assists in ten Premier League games, establishing himself as one of the league’s most exciting forwards.

Football legends often choose their words carefully, especially when it comes to old rivals — but Didier Drogba has never been one to shy away from honesty. Despite his legendary Chelsea status, the Ivorian icon has confessed admiration for Tottenham Hotspur’s dynamic Ghanaian midfielder, Mohammed Kudus, calling him his “favourite African player in the Premier League.”
In an interview with SportyTV, Drogba shared his thoughts on the new wave of African talents lighting up England’s top flight.
> “I like Kudus,” he said. “I used to like Jackson because I saw a lot of similarities between his debut at Chelsea and mine — unfortunately, it’s been a tough period for him there. And of course, I can’t forget my brother, Mohamed Salah. King Salah, I love you.”
While Drogba’s praise for Kudus turned heads — especially among Chelsea faithful who consider Spurs a fierce rival — another African star has been quietly stealing the spotlight this season.
Antoine Semenyo, Bournemouth’s powerhouse forward, has elevated his game to new heights, delivering performances that have caught the attention of top Premier League clubs. Reports suggest Tottenham are preparing a January move for the Ghanaian, but they’ll face stiff competition from Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester United.
Whether it’s Kudus dazzling with flair or Semenyo rising through grit and determination, African excellence continues to shine brightly across the Premier League.
