The Nigeria Wrestling Federation has announced that the maiden edition of the Comptroller General of Customs Military/Paramilitary Wrestling Championship will be held in Abuja from October 19 to 25.
Fourteen military and paramilitary agencies, including the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Police, DSS, FRSC, NDLEA, NSCDC, Nigerian Customs, Correctional Service, Immigration Service, Fire Service, EFCC, and ICPC, will participate in this week-long event, taking place at the Indoor Sports Hall of Package B, Moshood Abiola Stadium.
President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Hon. Daniel Igali, expressed his appreciation to the Comptroller General of Customs, Alhaji Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for his unwavering support in promoting wrestling in Nigeria. Igali emphasized that this championship will foster camaraderie and collaboration between the military and paramilitary agencies, strengthening the bonds of sportsmanship.
Representing the CG of Customs, Alhaji Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar highlighted the significant role sports play in developing leadership and goal-setting skills. He assured that the championship would be a platform for discovering new athletic talents.
Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, Brig. Gen. Olawale Fawole, confirmed that all preparations, including venue arrangements and technical support, are in place to ensure a successful event.
