VfL Bochum pulled off a remarkable comeback to secure a dramatic 3-3 draw against RB Leipzig in a thrilling Bundesliga Round 18 clash at Vonovia Ruhrstadion.
Leipzig appeared to be cruising to victory after a dominant first-half performance. Willi Orbán opened the scoring in the 10th minute, followed by Antonio Nusa’s stunning long-range strike three minutes later. Christoph Baumgartner added a third in the 21st minute, leaving Bochum trailing 3-0 at halftime.
But Dutch-Ghanaian striker Myron Boadu turned the game on its head with a heroic second-half display. He reignited Bochum’s hopes in the 48th minute, slotting home after a clever assist from Gerrit Holtmann. Just eight minutes later, Boadu pounced on a precise cross from Moritz Broschinski to make it 3-2. The comeback was complete in the 61st minute when Boadu coolly converted a penalty, completing a sensational hat-trick in just 13 minutes.
Despite Leipzig’s 55% possession and their historical dominance in this fixture, Bochum’s resilience and Boadu’s brilliance earned them a hard-fought point. The striker now boasts five Bundesliga goals in just eight appearances this season, underlining his growing influence on the team.
With the Bochum faithful erupting in celebration, the draw will be a major confidence boost as the team looks to build on this momentum in their battle to climb the Bundesliga table.
