Norwich City head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup is optimistic that Forson Amankwah’s knee injury won’t be a long-term issue. The Ghanaian midfielder was substituted at halftime during Norwich’s FA Cup third-round defeat to Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion, with Kellen Fisher taking his place.
Amankwah, 20, sustained the injury following a challenge and was visibly in discomfort. Speaking after the match, Thorup shared his thoughts on the young midfielder’s condition, saying, “Forson had some contact to his knee, so hopefully, it’s not too serious. We’ll have to wait and see.”
This injury setback comes at a time when Amankwah has been in excellent form. Just two weeks ago, he netted a match-winning brace to secure a 2-1 victory for Norwich against Coventry City in the Championship. This was Amankwah’s first start for the Canaries in the match against Brighton, adding to his impressive tally of two goals and two assists in 18 appearances across all competitions this season.
Norwich City will look to bounce back with a crucial Championship fixture against Sheffield United on Saturday, January 18, as they continue their quest for promotion.
