The Ghana Football Association has acknowledged that restoring the Black Stars to their former glory will be no walk in the park. Speaking on the team’s recent strides, Communications Director Henry Asante Twum revealed that the FA is committed to a long-term vision that prioritizes growth over instant results.
Twum emphasized that while Ghana’s recent victories over Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers have provided a morale boost — lifting the team one spot in the FIFA rankings for the first time since July 2024 — the journey ahead remains demanding.
As part of their rebuilding strategy, the Black Stars will head to London in May for a four-nation tournament featuring Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and arch-rivals Nigeria. Ghana’s campaign kicks off with a high-stakes clash against Nigeria on May 28.
“We want to try as much as possible to continue our rebuilding process — to continue the effort in making the team one of the best on the continent,” Twum said. “We are not overly concerned about results. We are concerned about our team-building agenda.”
With friendlies, competitive fixtures, and consistent engagement on the agenda, Ghana’s football leadership hopes these efforts will lay the foundation for a new era of dominance in African football.
