Derrick Kohn’s stay at SV Werder Bremen is on shaky ground as transfer talks with Galatasaray hit another snag. The Turkish champions have rejected a second bid from the Bundesliga side, leaving the German-Ghanaian full-back’s future uncertain.
Kohn arrived in Bremen on loan for the 2024/25 season and initially made a strong impression with his pace, energy, and attacking intent down the left flank. However, as the season wore on and internal competition stiffened, his form dipped.
Still, Bremen see potential in the 26-year-old and are keen to keep him beyond his loan spell. Their first offer of €3 million plus add-ons was swiftly declined. A follow-up bid, reportedly around €3.5 million, has now met the same fate.
Galatasaray, who initially inserted a €5.125 million purchase clause in the loan deal, are holding firm, while Bremen’s financial constraints have ruled out activating the original clause.
Unless both clubs find middle ground soon, Kohn’s promising Bundesliga chapter may close just as it was beginning to take shape.
