Ghana’s Black Queens are gearing up for their biggest test yet as they prepare to battle Morocco in a high-stakes WAFCON semi-final under the fierce glare of over 50,000 home supporters at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
With the Atlas Lionesses chasing back-to-back final appearances, the stadium is expected to be packed to the rafters with Moroccan fans creating an electrifying — and intimidating — atmosphere for the visitors.
But the Black Queens aren’t fazed. Head coach Kim Björkegren believes his side has evolved into a more resilient and confident team. “We’ve played Morocco before and yes, we lost — but that was only the beginning,” Björkegren stated boldly. “This is a new Ghana, battle-tested, technically sharper, and mentally stronger. We’ve learned, adapted, and we’re ready.”
The Swedish coach made it clear there would be no excuses about short recovery periods or tough conditions. “Top football is for those who overcome adversity. We’re here to win, no matter the noise.”
For Morocco, the passionate home crowd is a weapon. For Ghana, it’s the ultimate mental challenge — one they hope to conquer to reach their first WAFCON final since 2006.
It’s all or nothing under the Rabat lights.
