Confident Kim Björkegren Declares Black Queens Are “A Different Team” Ahead of Morocco Semi-Final Showdown

Ghana’s Black Queens boss, Kim Björkegren, is brimming with confidence as his team prepares to battle host nation Morocco in a high-stakes Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) semi-final clash on Tuesday night in Rabat.

Addressing the media ahead of the eagerly awaited fixture, the Swedish tactician highlighted the remarkable progress his side has made under his leadership, insisting the Queens are no longer the same team that fell short against the North Africans in the past.

“We’ve played Morocco before, and yes, we lost — but that was just the beginning,” Björkegren declared. “This is a completely different Ghana team. We have grown technically, we have built our confidence, and now we are battle-hardened.”

Brushing off worries about tight recovery schedules and the demands of travel, the coach reinforced his team’s readiness to rise to the occasion.

“No excuses,” he said firmly. “This is elite football. To become champions, you have to overcome obstacles. We are prepared in every way — tactically, mentally, and physically.”

With Morocco enjoying home advantage and the roar of their supporters, Björkegren hinted that the pressure could work in Ghana’s favour.

“Morocco will have the crowd and the expectations, but that can turn into pressure. We aim to play with freedom and make the most of it,” he concluded.

Ghana’s Black Queens will now look to continue their fairytale run and book a place in the WAFCON final.
