Victor Osimhen’s time in Naples appears to be drawing to a close, with the Nigerian striker edging closer to a sensational permanent move to Galatasaray.
The 26-year-old was noticeably absent on Monday as Napoli regrouped for pre-season preparations, undergoing medicals and physical tests. According to a brief club statement, Osimhen submitted a medical certificate to justify his absence—while his representatives worked behind the scenes to seal his next chapter in Turkey.
After a remarkable loan spell where he fired Galatasaray to their 25th Super Lig title with 26 goals in 30 appearances, Osimhen has become a priority signing for the Istanbul giants. Napoli’s new manager, Antonio Conte, is reportedly not counting on the Nigerian forward for the club’s title defence.
However, Napoli are standing firm on their valuation, making it clear they won’t let Osimhen leave for less than €75 million ($87.5 million). Talks between the two clubs are ongoing, and Galatasaray are optimistic about bringing their loan hero back on a full-time basis.
A new era could be beckoning for Osimhen—this time, as the king of Istanbul.
