Black Stars Settle at Accra Sports Stadium for Remaining 2026 World Cup Qualifiers

After a whirlwind of uncertainty and stadium bans, the Black Stars have officially found their new fortress: the iconic Accra Sports Stadium.

According to the GFA’s Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, the capital’s stadium will be the sole approved venue for Ghana’s crucial remaining fixtures in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

This decision comes on the back of sanctions placed on the Baba Yara Sports Stadium by CAF and FIFA, who flagged the Kumasi venue as unfit to host international matches — a major blow considering its history and crowd power.

But speaking to Sportsblog247.com, Asante Twum made it clear:

> “At the moment, the only approved venue for Black Stars matches is the Accra Sports Stadium. That will host Black Stars games in September and October.”

With Ghana set to host Mali and Comoros in the final stretch of the qualifiers, all eyes will be on Accra as the Black Stars aim to secure a ticket to their fifth World Cup appearance.

Their most recent outing at the Accra Sports Stadium saw them thrash Chad in a dominant performance, sparking hope that the new venue might just bring a change in fortune.

Currently sitting top of Group I with 15 points, Ghana is three points clear of Comoros and will be looking to maintain — or even stretch — that lead in the final fixtures.

Now, with home advantage shifted to the heart of the capital, the nation rallies behind the team with one chant in mind:
“On to the Mundial!” ⚽
