In Nairobi, the CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) drama intensifies on Wednesday as Group A contenders battle for survival and a ticket to the quarterfinals.
The afternoon clash at the Nyayo National Stadium sees Morocco and Zambia lock horns at 4pm CAT. For the Atlas Lions, it’s a chance to bounce back after a mixed start — a 2-0 win over Angola followed by a narrow 1-0 defeat to hosts Kenya. Sitting fourth in the group, the two-time champions know a win is crucial to keep their hopes alive.
At the other end, Zambia are desperate. Bottom of the table with two losses (2-0 to DR Congo and 2-1 to Angola), The Copper Bullets need nothing less than a perfect run from their remaining fixtures to stand any chance of progression.
The evening game at 7pm CAT at Kasarani Stadium pits second-placed Angola against DR Congo. The Black Sable Antelopes, with four points from three matches, can still reach 10 points but risk being overtaken by both Morocco and DR Congo. The Leopards, champions in 2016, are chasing only their second knockout stage appearance since that triumph. After a 1-0 loss to Kenya and a 2-0 win over Zambia, DR Congo know victory here would be a huge step toward the last eight.
