In a groundbreaking transfer for Ghanaian women’s football, dynamic Black Queens forward Wasiima Mohammed has signed a three-year contract with Swiss powerhouse FC Zürich, becoming the first Ghanaian female player to feature in the Swiss Women’s League.
The 21-year-old attacker joins directly from Ghana Women’s League side Northern Ladies, where her eye-catching performances earned her a call-up to the Black Queens squad that claimed bronze at the recent Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
FC Zürich officially unveiled Mohammed on Monday, confirming she will don the number 11 jersey through to 2028. “FC Zürich warmly welcomes Wasiima Mohammed and wishes her much luck and success,” the club stated in its announcement.
Mohammed’s journey began with Young Queens FC, before a standout spell at Pearlpia Ladies paved the way for her rise to Northern Ladies and now Europe. Her move marks not only a personal milestone but also a significant step for Ghanaian women’s football on the continental stage.
