Kofi Adams Pledges Swift Payment of Outstanding Bonuses to Black Starlets, Princesses, and Queens

Ghana’s Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to settling all outstanding bonuses and per diems owed to the Black Starlets, Black Princesses, and Black Queens.

Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, the Minister — who also serves as Member of Parliament for the Buem Constituency — admitted that the Ministry is aware of the arrears owed to the three national teams but assured that payments will be made once funds are released into the Ministry’s account.

> “It is not as if we had the money and decided not to pay the Black Starlets during the WAFU B tournament. Per diems for the Black Starlets will be paid — and not only them but the Black Princesses as well,” Mr. Adams clarified.

“I have gotten the approval, and once the money hits the Ministry’s account, we will pay them. The Black Queens also have some arrears, and we are doing everything possible to clear all of them,” he added.

The Black Starlets are awaiting their rewards after a strong showing at the WAFU B U-17 Championship in Ivory Coast, where they finished as runners-up.

The Black Princesses, who recently advanced in the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers after eliminating Tunisia, are also due for payment.

Meanwhile, the Black Queens — fresh from their third-place finish at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, marking their first podium finish since 2018 — are among the teams expecting their outstanding entitlements.

With the Minister’s assurance, optimism grows among players and fans that long-standing financial commitments will finally be fulfilled, ensuring morale and motivation remain high across Ghana’s national teams.
