Former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has advised the association to exercise patience in appointing a new head coach for the Black Stars.

His comments follow the departure of Otto Addo, who was relieved of his duties after Ghana’s consecutive defeats to Austria and Germany during the March international friendlies.

Speaking to Citi News, Sannie Daara emphasized that while there is understandable urgency ahead of upcoming fixtures, the decision must be guided by long-term vision rather than short-term pressure.

He highlighted the youthful nature of the current squad, noting that many players are in their early 20s and possess significant potential. According to him, Ghana needs a coach who can not only prepare the team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup but also build stability and continuity for sustained success.

Sannie Daara stressed that rushing the process could undermine the team’s development, urging the GFA to focus on finding the right fit rather than the quickest option.

The coaching vacancy has attracted widespread attention, with Kurt Okraku confirming that over 600 applications have been received. He also indicated that a new coach is expected to be appointed within the next two weeks.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars are set to regroup in May for international friendlies against Mexico and Wales, key fixtures in their preparation for the World Cup.

Ghana, heading into their fifth World Cup appearance, have been drawn in a challenging Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama. The team will be aiming to surpass their group-stage performances and replicate the success of their memorable 2010 campaign.
