Germany-born forward of Ghanaian descent, Ilyas Ansah, is ready to embrace a new chapter in his football journey after completing a move to Bundesliga side 1. FC Union Berlin from SC Paderborn.
At just 20 years old, Ansah has already carved out an impressive reputation, playing a key role for Paderborn in the 2. Bundesliga last season. Across 33 appearances, he contributed six goals and six assists, underlining his versatility and attacking flair.
Now, he is stepping up to Germany’s top flight — and he couldn’t be more thrilled.
“Union are a special club that stand for passion, solidarity and honest football — exactly what I associate with this sport,” Ansah shared after sealing the move. “When I was approached, I didn’t have to think twice.”
For Ansah, the move represents more than just a step up in competition. It’s an opportunity to grow and make an impact at a club that resonates deeply with his football values.
“For me, the move to Berlin is a huge opportunity to develop further at a high level, gain new experiences and contribute to the team’s success,” he added. “I’m looking forward to getting to know the environment, taking part in pre-season training and then hopefully playing at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei as soon as possible.”
With Bundesliga action awaiting and a passionate fanbase behind him, Ansah is determined to make the most of this new opportunity and leave his mark in the capital.
