Real Madrid’s attempt to snap up Ghanaian defensive sensation Oscar Naasei Oppong has hit a roadblock, as Granada firmly rejected the Spanish giants’ opening bid for the 20-year-old centre-back.
Oppong, who has risen rapidly through the ranks at Granada, earned a promotion from the club’s B team this season and has since made six appearances in the Segunda División. His commanding displays at the back have not gone unnoticed, drawing attention from top clubs across Europe—most notably, Real Madrid.
According to reports, Madrid’s scouting team identified Oppong as a long-term prospect and tabled a formal offer, hoping to integrate him initially with their Castilla side while allowing him to train with the senior team. The plan aligns with the club’s ongoing policy of recruiting emerging talents early to develop them into future stars.
However, Granada swiftly turned down the proposal, standing firm on Oppong’s €10 million release clause. The Andalusian club reportedly views the Ghanaian as a key part of their future and are unwilling to negotiate below the stipulated fee.
While talks could yet resume, for now, Oscar Naasei Oppong remains a Granada player—and a rising star to watch in Spanish football.
