Eddie Nketiah Closing in on Ghana Switch as FIFA Paperwork Prepared
Crystal Palace striker Eddie Nketiah is reportedly on the verge of switching his international allegiance from England to Ghana, in what could be a major boost for the Black Stars.
According to an exclusive report by sports journalist Ibrahim Sannie Daara, the necessary paperwork is currently being prepared for submission to FIFA as Ghana moves closer to securing the services of the England international.
Nketiah, 27, was born in Lewisham, London, to Ghanaian parents and has represented England at several youth levels. He made his senior debut for the Three Lions in October 2023.
His senior England appearance, however, came in a non-competitive fixture, meaning the striker remains eligible to change his international allegiance under FIFA’s current eligibility regulations.
The potential switch would see Nketiah become available for the Black Stars, adding another experienced forward to Ghana’s attacking options.
The Crystal Palace forward has previously spoken positively about his Ghanaian heritage. His international future has been the subject of speculation for some time, with Ghana having previously explored the possibility of convincing him to represent the country.
Nketiah is also understood to have recovered from a knock picked up at Crystal Palace and is expected to return to training.
However, the process is not yet complete. The paperwork still has to be submitted to FIFA and the relevant change of association must be approved before Nketiah can officially represent Ghana.
If completed, the move would give the Black Stars another striker with Premier League experience and strengthen Ghana’s options in attack.
