Nigerian powerhouse Bayelsa Queens are bracing up for a thrilling opener against Ghana’s Police Ladies in the WAFU B Women’s Champions League. The Group B clash is scheduled to take place in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire, on Saturday, August 23, 2025.
The Prosperity Girls, who lifted the crown in 2022, will battle in a tricky group that also includes AS ASKO (Togo) and Sam Nelly (Benin Republic).
Meanwhile, hosts ASEC Mimosas of Côte d’Ivoire will kick off the tournament against AS Garde of Niger Republic in the curtain-raiser.
The highly anticipated competition will run from August 23 to December 5, 2025, with the eventual champions earning the prestigious ticket to represent the zone at the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has thrown its full support behind Black Stars striker Antoine Semenyo after he was subjected to racial abuse during Bournemouth’s Premier League opener against Liverpool at Anfield.
In an official statement, the GFA condemned the incident while praising Semenyo for his resilience both on and off the pitch.
> “We stand firmly with our Black Stars forward, Antoine Semenyo, following the racial abuse he suffered at Anfield. In the face of provocation, Antoine showed strength, grace, and unity. On the pitch, he scored twice; off it, he reminded us of what football truly represents — respect, solidarity, and love for the beautiful game.”
The Association further hailed the 24-year-old for making Ghana proud, emphasizing that such acts of racism must have no place in football.
