Liverpool fans held their breath on Saturday after Jeremie Frimpong was forced off at half-time during his Premier League debut.
Head coach Arne Slot revealed the substitution was a precautionary measure after the Dutch full-back complained of tightness in his hamstring.
> “He made a lot of sprints and was doing quite well, but with Conor Bradley already out we didn’t want to risk losing another full-back,” Slot explained.
Despite the early exit, Frimpong impressed with his energy and attacking runs, giving supporters plenty of optimism for what’s to come. For now, the hope is that his knock is nothing serious.

The CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) group stage delivered heartbreak for Guinea and Niger, as both nations were officially eliminated on Friday following disappointing draws at the Namboole Mandela National Stadium in Kampala, Uganda.
In the day’s opening clash, Guinea looked on course for victory after Ismaël Camara fired home a stunning strike from outside the box in the 62nd minute to put the National Elephants ahead. But hopes were dashed late on when Sofiane Bayazid bundled in an 88th-minute equalizer for Algeria, forcing a 1-1 draw.
Later in the evening, Niger battled hard for a goalless stalemate against South Africa, who dominated possession but failed to make their chances count.
The results mean Guinea exit the competition with just four points from four games, finishing bottom of Group C, while Niger remain winless with two defeats and one draw, stuck at the foot of the table with one fixture left to play against Algeria.
Meanwhile, Bafana Bafana and Algeria both sit on five points, chasing group leaders Uganda, who hold a slender one-point advantage heading into the decisive final round.

Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo produced a brilliant individual performance, scoring two goals to light up the match. Despite his heroics, the Cherries were unable to capitalize fully, as the game ended without all three points secured.

French legend Thierry Henry has given a glowing review of Liverpool striker Hugo Ekitike, praising the youngster’s resilience and ability to bounce back after early career struggles.
Henry reflected on Ekitike’s journey, from bursting onto the scene at Reims, to a difficult spell at PSG during the Messi-Neymar-Mbappé era, and then reigniting his career in Germany alongside Omar Marmoush. Despite setbacks, Ekitike rediscovered his scoring touch and is now thriving at Liverpool.
“I’m not surprised at all,” Henry said. “He’s answered the call, and I’m happy to see him back on track. At Liverpool, he’s already scoring goals, and what makes him special is that he can finish in the box but also run on the counter with pace. That gives the coach so many options.”
While noting Ekitike’s versatility, Henry was firm on his best role:
“For me, he’s a No.9. Liverpool already have wingers; what they needed was that striker. Yes, he can play wide, but you don’t ask Alan Shearer to play on the wing, right? He’s a nine.”
With Arne Slot now tasked with unlocking his full potential, Henry believes Liverpool may have found their long-term centre-forward solution.
