The summer transfer window is heating up as Napoli and Liverpool enter into complex negotiations over star striker Victor Osimhen.
According to fresh reports, Liverpool have made their interest in the Nigerian forward official, triggering talks with Napoli over a potential high-profile move. The Reds are keen on signing Osimhen, but Napoli are standing firm on their valuation, insisting on the €75 million release clause in his contract.
In a bold counter-move, Napoli’s sporting director Giovanni Manna reportedly made enquiries about two of Liverpool’s forwards — Darwin Núñez and Italian winger Federico Chiesa, the latter having only recently arrived at Anfield from Juventus.
Liverpool are said to have offered an equal swap deal, involving both Núñez and Chiesa in exchange for Osimhen. But Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has raised the stakes, demanding not just the two players but an additional €20 million to seal the deal.
With Liverpool hesitant and De Laurentiis holding his ground, the standoff continues — and Osimhen’s future remains up in the air.

West Africa’s footballing titans, Nigeria and Ghana, are set to clash once again in what promises to be a fiery edition of the 2025 WAFU Zone B U-20 Cup of Nations, after being drawn in the same group alongside neighbours Benin Republic.
The tournament, now rescheduled to take place from July 10 to 23, will unfold at the GFA Technical Centre in Prampram, Ghana. It serves as the qualifying gateway to the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles, under the guidance of head coach Aliyu Zubairu, are back in Abuja to resume camp following the competition’s postponement. They’ll be aiming to stamp their dominance once more, especially against familiar foes Ghana in a fixture commonly known as the Jollof Derby.
The historic rivalry between both nations adds extra heat to the group, as Nigeria recently edged Ghana in two key duels — the Super Eagles’ Unity Cup triumph and a gripping 2-1 win in last year’s WAFU B final at U20 level.
Group B, meanwhile, houses Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Niger, and Togo — a tightly packed pool where only the top two teams from each group will reach the semifinals.
Significantly, this year’s tournament is exclusive to WAFU Zone B members after Zone A nations were disqualified due to organizational lapses.
More than just regional bragging rights are at stake: this tournament is a launchpad for tomorrow’s stars and a crucial preparatory step toward the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile, slated for September 27 to October 19, 2025.
With seven U-20 AFCON titles and two FIFA U-20 World Cup final appearances to their name, Nigeria’s Flying Eagles are eyeing another golden chapter in their storied history.

Youcef Belaili’s second-half strike and a late penalty save helped Esperance edge LAFC 1-0 in a fiery Group D clash in Nashville.
Tunisian powerhouse Esperance de Tunis reignited their FIFA Club World Cup campaign with a dramatic 1-0 victory over Los Angeles FC, in a game filled with tension, missed chances, and late drama.
Coming into the match with both teams desperate for a win after opening-day defeats, the stakes were sky-high. Esperance came out firing, nearly scoring in the early stages as Youcef Belaili forced LAFC’s Hugo Lloris into a brilliant reflex save. Moments later, Rodrigo Rodrigues rattled the post with a fierce drive, while LAFC’s David Martínez fluffed a golden chance at the other end.
Just before halftime, LAFC thought they had taken the lead through Martínez, only for the goal to be ruled out after Denis Bouanga was deemed offside in the buildup.
Belaili was in the spotlight again early in the second half, winning a penalty — or so he thought — before VAR intervened, overturning the decision and issuing a yellow card for simulation.
But justice came in the 70th minute when the Tunisian talisman finally found the breakthrough, latching onto a loose ball in the box and rifling past Lloris to send the Esperance fans wild.
There was still more drama to come. In stoppage time, LAFC had a lifeline with a last-minute penalty. Up stepped Bouanga, but Bechir Ben Said guessed right and pulled off a heroic save to secure the win.
With the victory, Esperance remain in contention for a place in the knockout rounds, while LAFC’s hopes hang by a thread.

From Süderelbe to Halberstadt – Ghanaian-German forward ready to light up the Oberliga
VfB Germania Halberstadt have secured the signature of promising attacker Davis Boateng as they aim to bolster their frontline ahead of the 2025/26 season. The 21-year-old forward arrives from FC Süderelbe, where he impressed with 11 goals and 9 assists in 33 appearances last term.
Boateng, who holds dual German-Ghanaian nationality, is known for his pace, creativity, and versatility in attack — traits that Halberstadt believe can give them an edge in their bid to climb the Oberliga NOFV-Süd standings. A product of the VfL Wolfsburg youth system, Boateng is comfortable across various forward roles, offering tactical flexibility to the coaching staff.
The move comes as Halberstadt look to improve on last season’s 7th-place finish, where they amassed 48 points. The club views Boateng as a key piece in their ambition to break into the upper echelons of the table.
Before finalizing the deal, Boateng had already taken in the atmosphere at the Friedensstadion during a recent home match — a gesture that hinted at a natural fit between player and club.
With preseason preparations underway, Boateng is now set to integrate into the squad and hit the ground running.
