As the buzz intensifies ahead of Ghana’s showdown with reigning champions Senegal at the U-20 AFCON in Egypt (April 27 – May 18), Black Satellites head coach Desmond Ofei is charting a different course—one of calm focus and quiet confidence.
This Group C clash is being billed as one of the tournament’s early blockbusters, steeped in history and regional rivalry. But where others might see pressure, Ofei sees purpose.
“It’s a big match, no doubt,” he acknowledged. “But we’ll treat it like any other: with respect, focus, and confidence.”

Ghanaian football legend Asamoah Gyan has revealed a heartfelt desire from his glittering career that never materialized — playing for English football giants Manchester United.
The former Black Stars captain, who left an indelible mark on Ghanaian football and shone on the international stage, shared this personal revelation during a quick-fire Q&A on TV3’s New Day morning show.
“I wish I played for Manchester United,” Gyan said with a smile, answering a question about which club he wished he had featured for.
Throughout his career, Gyan dazzled fans across Europe and Asia, representing clubs like Udinese in Italy, Stade Rennais in France, Sunderland in the English Premier League, as well as Al Ain, Al Ahli, Shanghai SIPG, and Kayserispor. While he did play at the iconic Old Trafford and even scored ten goals during his Premier League stint, wearing the red shirt of United remained a dream unfulfilled.
During the interview, the iconic striker also shared a few more light-hearted memories — naming Wembley Stadium as his favorite ground to play at and calling Kwadwo Asamoah the funniest player in camp during their national team days.
Asamoah Gyan retired as Ghana’s all-time top scorer and holds the prestigious title of Africa’s highest scorer in FIFA World Cup history with six goals across three tournaments.

Stuttgart will be without the services of dynamic winger Jamie Leweling this weekend as they prepare to face his former club, Union Berlin — a significant setback for Sebastian Hoeneß’s side as they battle for a top-half finish in the Bundesliga.

Ghanaian defender Kojo Peprah Oppong is emerging as one of the hottest young prospects in Scandinavian football, with Bundesliga side RB Leipzig and Austrian champions Red Bull Salzburg reportedly eyeing a summer swoop.
According to Swedish outlet Expressen, both Red Bull-owned clubs are monitoring the 20-year-old centre-back closely after his strong start to the 2025 Allsvenskan campaign. Oppong has started all three of IFK Norrköping’s opening matches, showcasing maturity, composure, and strength at the heart of the defense.
Oppong returned to Norrköping this season following a promising loan spell at GIF Sundsvall in 2024, and he’s wasted no time making his mark.
