After weeks of frustration on the sidelines, Myron Boadu is finally nearing his return to the pitch. The VfL Bochum striker, who suffered a thigh muscle fiber tear during the thrilling 2-2 draw against KSV Holstein on matchday 21, has been pushing hard to regain full fitness.
Bochum’s head coach, Dieter Hecking, provided an encouraging update: “Myron will start at the beginning of next week.” This sets the stage for Boadu’s potential comeback in the home clash against Eintracht Frankfurt on March 16, 2025.

Olympique Lyon took a big step toward the Europa League quarterfinals with a commanding 3-1 away victory over FC Steaua București on Thursday night. Ghana’s Black Queens are on the rise! The latest FIFA rankings see the team move up one spot to 65th in the world and fifth in Africa, reflecting their steady progress despite a recent friendly defeat to Morocco.
With Nigeria leading the African rankings, followed by South Africa, Morocco, and Zambia, Ghana’s climb signifies their growing strength ahead of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The Black Queens, making a long-awaited return to the tournament since 2018, are drawn in Group C, where they will face defending champions South Africa, Tanzania, and Mali.

On a night filled with drama and intensity, Ghanaian defender Alexander Djiku stepped up with a moment of brilliance, but his efforts could not prevent Fenerbahce from falling to a 3-1 defeat against Rangers in the Europa League Round of 16 first-leg tie.
Fenerbahce’s hopes took an early hit when Cyriel Dessers put Rangers ahead in just the 7th minute. As if things couldn’t get worse, the Turkish side suffered a setback in the 16th minute when defender Çağlar Söyüncü was forced off due to injury. It was then that manager José Mourinho turned to Djiku, hoping to stabilize the defense.
Djiku did more than just defend—he electrified the crowd with an unexpected attacking spark. In the 30th minute, he found himself in a tight angle but showed his technical brilliance, rifling the ball past the Rangers’ goalkeeper to level the score.
However, Fenerbahce’s joy was short-lived. Just before halftime, Vaclav Cerny restored Rangers’ lead, ensuring the Scottish side went into the break ahead.
