A Fresh Start Under a Legend
Ghanaian winger Ibrahim Osman is set to embark on a new journey at Feyenoord under the guidance of Dutch football legend Robin van Persie. At just 19, Kelvin Lamptey Mills has taken a bold step in his football journey, leaving the United States, where he spent most of his life, to sign for Cypriot lower-tier club MEAP Nisou. Born to Ghanaian parents, he moved to the U.S. at the age of two, growing up in a completely different footballing culture.
Now, with a one-year contract (plus an option for extension) at MEAP Nisou, the young defender is focused on adaptation and development. For Lamptey, Cyprus represents a crucial stepping stone in his European dream.
“It’s a calm place to learn as a young player wanting to play in Europe,” he explained. “Many players take this path to adjust before moving to bigger leagues. My goal is to develop well and be ready when the time comes to step up.”
The transition to Europe can be challenging, but Lamptey believes Cyprus provides the right environment for young talents to grow. “It’s easier to adapt here, and once you do, you’re prepared for the bigger leagues,” he said. “For now, I want to learn as much as I can.”
