Four Ghanaian Coaches Head to Wales for UEFA B Licence Training

Four Ghanaian coaches have travelled to Wales to take part in a UEFA B Licence Coaching Course organised by the Football Association of Wales (FAW), under an ongoing technical partnership with the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The coaches selected for the programme are Black Galaxies assistant coach Godwin Ashitey Attram, Black Satellites assistant coach Winfred Dormon, national U-15 head coach Fatawu Salifu, and Hearts of Oak assistant coach Abdulai Gazale. The course is scheduled to run from Thursday, January 29 to Friday, February 20, 2026.

The initiative forms part of a wider collaboration between the FAW and the GFA aimed at enhancing coach education, knowledge sharing, and technical exchange. While the FAW is supporting aspects of the programme, the GFA is fully covering the course fees and flight expenses for the participating coaches.

The UEFA B Licence course will expose the coaches to the FAW’s coaching education framework and international best practices, with expectations that the experience will boost technical expertise and contribute to the long-term growth of coaching and youth development in Ghanaian football.

German-Born Ghanaian Winger Charles Herrmann Close to Cercle Brugge Switch

Highly rated German-born Ghanaian youngster Charles Herrmann is edging closer to a move to Belgian Pro League side Cercle Brugge in the ongoing January transfer window.

The 20-year-old winger is expected to leave Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach, with multiple reports from German media confirming advanced talks between the two clubs. Herrmann only joined Mönchengladbach from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2024 on a four-and-a-half-year contract, but is now set for an early exit.

According to Sky Germany, the deal will be a permanent transfer, with Borussia Mönchengladbach set to receive around €1 million plus performance-related bonuses for the talented wide man.

Despite his promise, Herrmann has struggled to fully meet expectations in the Bundesliga this season. He has made 16 appearances across all competitions, registering two goals and three assists.

Herrmann, who is the son of former Ghana international Charles Kwablan Akonnor, remains eligible to represent Ghana at senior international level, even though he has featured for Germany’s youth national teams.

Muntari Picks Eto’o, Ibrahimovic and Henry as Greatest Strikers, Leaves Out Asamoah Gyan

Muntari Picks Eto’o, Ibrahimovic and Henry as Greatest Strikers, Leaves Out Asamoah Gyan

Former AC Milan and Inter Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari has revealed his list of the greatest strikers of all time, sparking debate after leaving out Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan.

The ex-Black Stars midfielder enjoyed a decorated career alongside some of football’s finest forwards. Muntari won the FA Cup with Portsmouth, playing next to Nigerian icon Nwankwo Kanu, before moving to Italy where he lifted Serie A titles and the historic 2010 UEFA Champions League with Inter Milan.

During his time in Italy, Muntari shared the pitch with elite attackers such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Samuel Eto’o and Diego Milito. At international level, he formed a long-standing partnership with Asamoah Gyan for Ghana.

However, when asked to name his best strikers of all time, Muntari selected Samuel Eto’o, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, omitting his longtime national teammate.

“My best strikers of all time are Eto’o, Ibrahimovic and Thierry Henry,” Muntari told Sportsblog247.com.

He went on to heap praise on Ibrahimovic, insisting the Swedish star deserved to win the Ballon d’Or during his career.

“Ibrahimovic is a top player. He wins games easily and always demands the best from his teammates. I believe he should have won the Ballon d’Or, but sometimes people don’t like that he speaks his mind,” he said.

Muntari criticises Ghana Premier League
Muntari also expressed frustration with the state of the Ghana Premier League following his return to finish his career with Accra Hearts of Oak in 2021. Despite helping the club win the President Cup, he believes the league lacks direction and proper standards.

“The league has no future. The facilities are poor and the respect is not there. It’s not just one club, it’s everywhere,” he stated.

The Ghana Premier League is currently without a headline sponsor this season.
Muntari ranks Ghana’s best midfielders
In a separate report, Muntari also ranked his top five Ghanaian midfielders of all time, placing himself fourth on the list. He spent over a decade with the Black Stars, playing alongside greats such as Michael Essien and Stephen Appiah.
