Daniel Amartey Considering Move from Besiktas to Celtic

Ghanaian defender Daniel Amartey is contemplating a return to British football, with Scottish giants Celtic emerging as a potential destination amid concerns over his lack of playing time at Turkish club Besiktas.

After Leicester City’s relegation to the Championship in the 2023/24 season, Amartey made the switch to Besiktas. However, he has recently found himself sidelined, watching games from the bench.

Despite initially featuring prominently for Besiktas, the 29-year-old center-back’s influence has waned, leading to his exclusion from the starting lineup.

Brendan Rodgers, now managing Celtic and previously Amartey’s coach at Leicester, is keen to bolster the team’s defense ahead of their UEFA Champions League campaign next season. Rodgers has reignited his interest in Amartey, recognizing his experience and pedigree as valuable assets for the Hoops.

With Amartey’s playing time limited at Besiktas, speculation continues to swirl over whether he will opt for a reunion with Rodgers or endeavor to salvage his position in Turkey.
