Angola continued its perfect run in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers with a 2-1 victory over Sudan in Luanda. Following their surprise 1-0 win against Ghana at the Baba Yara Stadium, Angola has now registered two wins from two matches.
Veteran striker Mabululu opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 51st minute, but Sudan responded quickly with an equalizer from Mustafa Karshom just four minutes later. Angola regained the lead in the 82nd minute when Rayo Vallecano’s Randy Nteka scored the decisive goal via a deflection, securing all three points for his team.
This marks Sudan’s first competitive loss in 2024, setting up a crucial double-header against Ghana in October. Sudan currently sits second in Group F with three points, while Ghana, with just one point after a 1-1 draw against Niger, ranks third. Ghana’s defender Alidu Seidu scored his debut goal in that match.
The top two teams from Group F will qualify for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
