Ghanaian defender Philip Gameli Awuku has officially signed with Manisa FK, a club in Turkey’s second division. The 24-year-old agreed to a one-year contract, with an option for a further year.
Awuku’s move to Manisa FK follows his departure from Tuzlaspor earlier this summer, where he was a free agent. He began his professional career in Ghana with Okyeman Planners FC before moving to Turkey’s Super Lig with Yeni Malatyaspor for the 2020-2021 season. After two seasons, he joined Tuzlaspor for the 2022-2023 season, quickly becoming a key player.
Throughout his career, Awuku has made 83 official appearances and scored four goals, demonstrating his strong defensive capabilities and occasional scoring prowess. His arrival at Manisa FK is expected to bolster the team’s defense as they prepare for the upcoming season. Awuku expressed his excitement about joining Manisa and is eager to contribute to the club’s success.

Nsoatreman Football Club head coach Yaw Preko has outlined his team’s strategy for the second leg of their CAF Confederation Cup tie against TP Elect Sport of Chad. Following a 3-0 victory in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium, Preko emphasized the importance of not conceding in the upcoming match in Chad.
In the post-game interview, Preko acknowledged his team’s dominant first-half performance, where Abdul Rahman scored a brace, and Kwabena Meider added a third goal within a chaotic six-minute period. However, he expressed dissatisfaction with the team’s missed opportunities and highlighted the need to maintain focus and avoid complacency.
“Our approach for the next game is simple: not to concede,” Preko stated, as Nsoatreman aims to secure their place in the next round of the competition. The club, in its debut season in the Ghana Premier League, finished fourth and won the MTN FA Cup to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup.

FC Samartex 1996 forward Emmanuel Mamah has emphasized that the team will not celebrate prematurely, despite securing an impressive 1-0 victory in their maiden CAF Champions League match against Victoria United in Cameroon. Mamah, who scored the match’s only goal, acknowledged that while the win gives Samartex a slim aggregate lead, the team remains focused on advancing to the next round.
After returning to Ghana, the reigning Ghana Premier League champions are gearing up for the second leg, scheduled for August 25 at the Accra Sports Stadium. Mamah expressed his cautious optimism on Samartex’s Twitter page, stating, “Football is full of surprises, and we won’t celebrate this achievement until we have advanced to the next stage of the competition.”
Samartex will face Dreams FC in their opening game of the 2024-2025 Ghana Premier League season on September 6, just days after the second leg against Victoria United.

French Ligue 1 club Montpellier is reportedly interested in acquiring Ghana Black Stars midfielder Abdul Salis Samed. The 24-year-old has fallen out of favor at RC Lens, where his playing time significantly decreased last season after a standout 2022-2023 campaign.
Lens head coach Will Still confirmed in a post-game interview following their 1-0 win over Angers in the 2024-2025 season opener that Samed, along with other players, has been relegated to training with the reserve team. Samed was left out of the matchday squad for that contest, and Lens is set to face Panathinaikos in the Europa League Conference on Thursday, August 22.
Samed, who has struggled with form and injuries, is now on the transfer list after previously being considered a key asset for Lens. Despite his club struggles, he started both of Ghana’s recent matches in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
