Northampton Town manager Jon Brady has expressed his enthusiasm for the club’s latest acquisition, Tariqe Fosu, highlighting the winger’s impressive pedigree. El Paso Locomotive FC, a USL Championship side, has announced the signing of Ghanaian defender Wahab Ackwei from Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, pending league and federation approval. The 27-year-old defender joined the Switchbacks during the offseason, where he made six appearances and scored one goal this season. Ackwei previously played under Locomotive Head Coach Wilmer Cabrera at Rio Grande Valley FC from 2022 to 2023, where he made 59 appearances, scored four goals, provided four assists, and played a key role in the club’s run to the 2022 Western Conference Quarterfinals. His impressive performance earned him a spot on the 2022 USL Championship All-League Second Team. Ackwei’s USL experience also includes stints with Loudoun United FC (2021), New York Red Bulls II (2018), and Richmond Kickers in USL League One. He began his professional career in the Ghana Premier League, making 56 appearances for Inter Allies FC from 2015 to 2017.
